The planet Earth is like a porous sponge and water is absorbed as well as springs from the ground. Many people are oblivious to the fact that what is thrown on the floor or thrown in the water will find its way to the groundwater. Groundwater reaches rivers and the sea and all pollutants that come with it mixes in the water that will be used for human consumption  and also used in irrigation, bringing these pollutants direct into the food chain.
